How our Astaura office interior design team helped to create a vibrant, inspiring branded workspace, with enhanced acoustics for video conferencing.

In partnership with BEC and funded by Sellafield Ltd as part of its Social Impact Multiplied programme, Barclays last year opened an Eagle Labs incubator in Cumbria to help boost the region’s start up and scale up ecosystem.

Based in The Bus Station in the harbour town of Whitehaven on Cumbria’s West Coast, it offers 50 co-working spaces, 10 private offices, four meeting rooms, one maker space, Barclays Eagle Labs, The Peddler restaurant and one extraordinary community.

The Bus Station is a hybrid space blending work, creativity, learning, food and drink in an inspiring and collaborative environment and Barclays wanted its interior design to reflect that. It commissioned our Astaura office design team with an interior design brief to avoid a boring corporate space and instead create a fun, inspiring, exciting, branded workplace for Bus Station residents, so that’s what we did.

Director of Astaura Gary Cranson oversaw the entire process, from the first site visit, to the final installation and we created a vibrant, edgy, interesting workspace that doesn’t compromise on functionality or practicality.

We designed, manufactured and installed the Eagle Labs signage, selected and supplied the unique furniture including bespoke work benches, and created and installed the artificial bio wall panelling, to bring together a bright and interesting creative space.

We also designed, manufactured and installed a range of colourful bespoke acoustic panels and sculptures to enhance the acoustics for video conferencing and further complement the interior design of the space.

Clare Flay from the Bus Station said: “Gary was fantastic from start to finish on our project. We had a blank canvas basically and we gave him an idea of the sorts of things we were looking for but more or less said ‘make it unique and wonderful’ – and he did! We gave him our budget and he worked within that and was very flexible and accommodating of any changes we needed to make.”

If you want to create a workplace that really stands out then just get in touch – we’ll be happy to help.
